Usha Arghya
“Sunrise Offering”The final offering to the rising sun. The 36-hour fast concludes with paran, bringing blessings of health, harmony, prosperity and new beginnings.
Monday 16 November · 5:30–8:30 am
What to bring to the ghat
- Soop and daura (we keep a small number for families who need them)
- Prasad prepared at home — thekua, fruit, sugarcane
- A change of clothes and a towel for after the Arghya
- Diya, agarbatti and a lamp for the evening
- Folding chairs for elders, and a blanket for the pre-dawn wait
Volunteering at the event
Most of what happens at the ghat — parking, lighting, seating, prasad distribution, clean-up — is done by members in the hours around the Arghya. If you can give even ninety minutes, tell us when you register.
